A stereo resonator grown from a parametric EQ, this unit represents a mutated branch off of the Serge lineage, introducing a great amount of modulatability and further tunability, with a sound that shares its heritage but also comes into its own.
Eight resonant bandpass filters are spaced at musically desirable intervals, and bookended by high and low shelves. The bandpass filters begin resonating upon a few dB of gain, and their resonation is gain-dependent from there, which imparts a beautiful-sounding responsiveness. In a signal-dependent manner, bands exhibit a pleasing saturation as they are pushed. They can be turned counter-clockwise to cut the same frequencies.
By modulating individual bands via the 10 corresponding jacks, just above their corresponding knobs, you can achieve dynamic, complex tonal variations which can resemble different room-localization effects, vocalizations, or instrument architectures. The relatively large gain allowances offer significant tonal remodelling. An onboard compressor (activated via the CMP button) helps keep levels under control.
Further, the frEQ SPREAD and FREQ SHIFT dials allow you to sweep the whole spectrum by adjusting its overall width and center respectively (the frequency labels only apply at default settings), producing sounds which are reminiscent of resonance and cutoff twiddles, but also wholly unique.
A mix slider lets you shift the effect into subtler directions by blending in dry signal, but it also gets experimental at values above 100% wet, where inverted dry signal is then blended for interesting phase cancellations. Bandwidth (Q), resonance, and resonantion (the word looks the same, the sound is different) further sculpt the filters, while GAIN pushes you towards saturation and TRIM controls the final output volume (also offering makeup gain).
