A simple way to take an uninteresting modulation source and present a little chaos, the CV Lag Operator records incoming signal onto a short stretch of tape and simply doesn't advance the tape with consistency. The result resembles the ebb and flow of the original, but provides regular surprises, organic variation, and complex paths.
The device has three channels which can be fed into each other for additional depth. Each goes through a controllable smoothing section to prevent abrupt jumps. There are also jacks for interrupting the internal modulation in favor of your own sources (flip the CV toggle switch). It's easy to operate and efficient at producing pleasing chaos.
You can also feed other signals like gates and triggers to warp timing, or audio for dying cassette player warbles. Used to FM an oscillator, you get pitch wanderings that remind you of the good old days, on an LFO you'll gain added complexity, and on a generative sequence, you'll find more serendipity.
