Dust is a classic noise uGen from SuperCollider (https://supercollider.github.io/). It creates variable-height impulses by comparing a noise source against a target threshold. At low Density settings, these are infrequent pops that can be useful for triggers, especially for asynchronous granular synthesis (try running this through a highly-resonant band-pass filter!). At high density settings, this turns into crunchy digital noise, and at 100% density, this becomes a white noise signal.
