F_AURAZ – Spectral Waterfall Display
F_AURAZ is a live spectral waterfall visualizer. It converts incoming audio into color-coded frequency displays over time, allowing you to see how a sound evolves spectrally.
Features
- Real-time FFT-based frequency analysis
- 10 switchable color palettes via knob
- Linear and logarithmic frequency scaling
- Adjustable update speed
- Brightness control for overall intensity
- Pause function to freeze the display
Controls
- In (Audio Jack) – audio input to be analyzed
- Pause (Button) – freezes the waterfall scroll
- Speed (Slider) – controls how often the display updates (1 = fastest)
- Scale (Switch) – toggles between linear and logarithmic frequency scaling
- Color (Knob) – selects one of 10 color palettes
- Brightness (Knob) – adjusts overall color brightness (0 = dark, 2 = very bright)
Color Palettes
Use the Color knob to select from the following palettes:
- Aurora – soft greens, blues, purples
- Rainbow – full-spectrum HSB color
- Heatmap – red intensity with hot glow
- Fire – dark reds to white flame
- Ice – cold blues and frozen tones
- Monochrome – grayscale intensity
- Toxic – greenish glow with cyan shadows
- Plasma – high-contrast, oscillating colors
- Sepia Glow – warm vintage tones
- Cyberpunk – neon purple and red accents
Tips
- Use logarithmic scale for a view that matches musical pitch perception.
- Lower Speed = slower scroll = more detail per moment.
- Pause the display to inspect fine details or harmonics.
- Use the Brightness knob to fine-tune visual output for your screen or aesthetic.
Patch Ideas
- Use with oscillators to view harmonic structure
- Visualize filter sweeps or modulation effects
- Connect to complex CV/audio sources to create visual art
Technical Notes
- FFT size: 512 points (fixed)
- Waterfall resolution: 512 × 256 pixels
- Runs in real-time in ProcessSample()
