The Haas effect, first described in a Ph.D. thesis by Helmut Haas in 1949, is a stereo effect where one of the channels is delayed by a very short delay time (typically less than 40ms). The two sounds that reach the listener's ears are then perceived as one binaural auditory event. The position of the sound in the stereo field as well as the width of the sound are influenced by the delay time used.
This effect is typically used to create a wider stereo image - it lets mono sounds be perceived as having an extension in the stereo field, and often widens the perceived impact of existing stereo spreads. While the effect runs the danger of harming mono compatibility due to phase cancellations, it is nevertheless often used to increase the perceived stereo width of specific instruments or entire mixes.
This free module allows you to use the effect on any mono or stereo signal, and also has a CV input for any kind of modulations.
- L/M, R (top): Left or mono and right input. The right can also be used as mono input.
- Segment Displays: These display the current delay time of the left and right channel in ms. This includes any mods from CV.
- Big Knob: This allows to directly set the amount of the Haas effect to be used. The used scale is exponential, so values towards the extremes change faster than in the middle of the knob's range.
- Small Knob, CV in, 5V/10V Switch: Send your control signal here. With the switch at 5V, 5V of CV input signal will be equivalent to turning the big knob from one extreme to the center.
- L, R (bottom): Left and right outputs. It makes sense to use both.

For free a great and useful module . The effect is to move a mono source from left to right simply turning the big knob . I have found very interesting send an LFO or random signal in the Modulation input together with a short pulsed sound
