Mini Midi Note Measure is a compact yet powerful module designed to count MIDI notes in real-time across customizable session parameters. Whether you're measuring bursts of performance over time or capping off a note count, you’ll receive a detailed report of total notes played and time taken—ideal for benchmarking, experimentation, or even world record attempts.

⚙️ Core Workflow

  • Plug in your MIDI source.
  • Choose to end the session via:
  • a set duration (Time: 0s to 23:59:59), or
  • a maximum number of notes (Played)
  • Press Reset to start fresh—the timer begins with your first MIDI note.
  • Once your time or note limit is reached, the module stops counting incoming notes.

🎛 Counting Modes

  • All: Every note triggers a count.
  • Single: Only one note at a time—requires all gates to be off (all notes released) before counting the next.
  • Once Per Every: Enforces a minimum time gap (1–99ms, default 25ms) between notes to qualify.

🪄 Auto Split Point Define intervals via Time or Notes Played to automatically update split display:

  • On / Off toggle for control
  • Once: Triggers one split update per session.
  • Every: Repeated updates at set intervals (e.g., every 10s or every 100 notes)

📊 Display Options

  • Average Per Sec: Toggle between live second-by-second note count or averaged performance over time.
  • Split Mode: Show cumulative session totals or the most recent split data.

🔌 Inputs & Controls (the first 3 can be manually clicked, controlled via CV or Midi)

  • Reset: Starts a new session; waits for the first note to begin counting.
  • Split: Manual split update.
  • Pause: Temporarily halts counting—resume to continue.
  • MIDI Port: Direct input for MIDI signal.
  • AUTO: Automatically connects MIDI from Voltage Modular's controller. Note: Only one active device allowed when using AUTO with MIDI.

🌍 Behind the Module I created Mini Midi Note Measure following a request from Ulli, a pianist chasing the world record for “Fastest Single Piano Keystrokes in a Minute.” Inspired by existing tools like the Mini Midi Note Counter, after several conversation I tailored a solution to track keystroke speed with precision and flexibility. The result? On 15th June 2025, the record was successfully broken and recorded by this very module.
