Ploink is a trigger / gate module that generates a series of triggers or gates out of one incoming trigger. Each trigger goes faster and faster, until the minimum length is reached and the sequence of triggers / gates stops.

If you listen to the sounds, you'll notice why the module is called "ploink", too.

This module does not generate sound. You can use the gates for an envelope, or the triggers for advancing a sequence, as a sync signal for sample&hold modules, that kind of thing. Have a look at the screenshots to get some ideas.

The module doesn't really have CV controls apart from the trigger itself.

  • TRIGGER: Either push the button to trigger, or send a positive voltage after a 0 or negative voltage into the CV in. So any regular trigger will do.
  • PANIC: Push this if you want to stop the triggers. Can be handy while building a patch.
  • PLOINK: The longest / initial ploink length, in seconds.
  • REPEATS: This is the factor that each subsequent ploink will be shorter by.
  • MINIMUM: The minimum length of the ploinks - as soon as this length is rached, the ploinking stops.
  • FW/REV: If switched to REV, the ploinks start short and get longer. So the MINIMUM length is the starting length, the REPEATS are the factor they get longer by, and they stop at the PLOINK length.

The output is either a trigger or a gate, depending on the TRIG / GATE control: At 0, there's just a 1 sample trigger, higher percentages say how much of the current ploink length is the gate. So gate lengths are always relative to ploink lengths.

Happy ploinking!

Perfect!

Really useful for adding all sorts of detail to your sounds, attacks for drums, sweeps for pads, movement and interest in novel ways. And the ability to reverse makes it really flexible.
