The sound of 90's hiphop has a patina, courtesy of the hardware sampling methods which were available at the time. Beats were crafted to turn technological limitations into integral signatures of the sound, imbuing sound with grit that which gave the music its teeth. This device collects a variety of favorite technological limitations from notable samplers, offering you the opportunity to mix & match as well as tinker with the variables. You can revive the great tones and mutate them into new ones.

The speed dial allows you to recreate a method for maximizing sampler memory (recording at 2x speed so it takes half the kB, then playing at half speed for the original pitch), which inadvertently made drums more awesome. Here, you can also turn the dial for a lot of other speeds. Toggle the neighboring orange button for two flavors of this technique. A gentle filter recreates one which was used to soften aliasing and internal clock noise. A compressor with signature response glues it all together. At the end of it all, a dry/wet fader lets you back it off to taste.

Use it subtly on drums to improve their feel, dramatically on instruments for lofi beauty, or modulate everything for great tonal experimentation.
