Resonating like a tensioned strand, this device is both an audio effect and an instrument which generates sounds itself. With incoming audio, it resonates sympathetically to shape tones, add frequency-focused reverberation, and brings out pleasant ringing where desired. Pitch CV input allows it to follow a melody too.
Instead of processing audio, envelopes/gates/triggers (via the same input jacks) can "pluck" the device to create string-like tones which also follow pitch cv to play musical notes. Chaining further units, perhaps tuned differently, allows one to shape the tones for a diverse set of sounds and bringing out the positives in their synthetic qualities. Signals that are dramatic like gate pulses, yet containing actual audio, accomplish a little bit of both.
