sys.14 | esra is an 8-step voltage sequencer featuring flexible playback patterns and optional pitch quantization. The first four controls define the primary sequence, while steps 5–8 are derived from those same voltages. In the three standard range settings, the second half of the sequence uses inverted voltages. In quantized mode, steps 5–8 are transposed down by one octave, creating a related lower register. The four-position Output Range switch offers three standard voltage ranges and one quantized pitch range spanning four octaves, from C-2 to C-6. In quantized mode, the output is constrained to semitone intervals using a 1 V/octave scale. Nine playback patterns are available, ranging from conventional forward and reverse sequences to more unconventional melodic variations that reorder the eight steps. A visual step indicator highlights the active stage, while the output LED distinguishes the first four steps (green) from the second four steps (blue).

Controls and their functions from top to bottom:

• Step 1 to 4: Sets the voltage for the four primary steps. The same values are automatically mirrored as negative voltages to create steps 5 to 8.
• Output Range switch: Selects ×1.0 V, ×2.0 V, ×5.0 V, or the quantized C-2 to C-6 range. In quantized mode, the output moves in semitone intervals at 1 V/octave, and steps 5–8 are transposed down by one octave.
• Pattern Mode: Selects one of nine predefined 8-step patterns, ranging from conventional forward and reverse sequences to more complex alternating and interleaved patterns.
• Reset-jack: Resets the sequencer to the final step, so the next play trigger starts the sequence at step 1.
• Trig.in-jack: Advances the sequencer by one step on each rising edge.
• Out-jack: Provides the selected step voltage.

The quantized modes convert the output into 1 V/octave pitch increments, making sys.6 | esra suitable for melodic sequencing as well as modulation.
