sys.14 | lyra is a dual oscillator combining a continuously morphable oscillator with a dedicated square-wave oscillator. OSC 1 can morph smoothly from triangle through ramp to square, while OSC 2 provides a punchy square wave with its own pitch offset. The two oscillators can be mixed freely, making Lyra equally useful for classic subtractive sounds, layered tones and more complex harmonic textures.
OSC 2 can be shifted over a wide pitch range and its pitch offset can be modulated with CV. A switchable hard-sync mode resets OSC 2 to the beginning of its cycle whenever OSC 1 completes a cycle, producing the characteristic harmonically rich sound associated with synchronized oscillators.
The controls and their functions, from top to bottom:
- OSC 1: Waveform: Continuously morphs OSC 1 from triangle through ramp to square.
- OSC 2: Pitch Offset: Sets the pitch of OSC 2 relative to OSC 1, from -2 to +4 octaves.
- Osc 1/2 Mix: Crossfades between the two oscillators, from 100% OSC 1 to 100% OSC 2.
- Switch (Hard Sync): Enables or disables hard synchronization of OSC 2 to OSC 1.
- Input (Pitch): 1V/octave pitch input for both oscillators.
- Offset CV Int.: Sets the amount and polarity of pitch modulation applied to OSC 2.
- CV input for modulating the pitch offset of OSC 2.
- Output: Combined audio output.
