This module counts the triggers it receives via its input, up to the number specified by the Count Size knob. When the limit is reached, a trigger is sent to the End Trig output, and the count starts over. The count CV output produces a signal that is equal to the number of triggers so far, divided by the count size, in a range of 0 to 5V. There is a button to reset the count, and a button to send manual triggers, which can also be used to interrupt the counting of incoming triggers if held pressed. The trigger of the upper channel can be sent to the lower one by activating the toggle between the two channels.

Unlike a clock divider, Trigger Counter does not require the input signal to be periodic; it can accept any rhythm or aperiodic series of triggers or pulses, such as those produced by a trigger sequencer, or by the Random Triggers module.

The count size value goes up to 300, so the module can also be used for very large clock divisions to set up sequences at the meso or macro levels of a composition or improvisation. It is also useful for easily creating polyrhythms in any desired ratios (e.g. 7 against 11, or 17 against 55), and for all kinds of generative purposes.
