This oscillator performs dynamic additive synthesis by balancing sixteen harmonics of a base waveform (form selection switch) and providing each its own amplitude envelope so that the tone can develop & evolve with time.
When provided a gate signal, master attack & release settings provide a baseline, while the outer rings of the lower controls set the “envelope response” which varies the attack/release times by percentage so that particular harmonics can peak at their own times. The lower central dials define the starting amplitude of each, allowing negative values for inversion.
Harmonics can be synced to the fundamental (H sync button), & the device can be externally synced too (central jack). The sync output emits a square wave or a ramp, which can be used to position other oscillators via CV (for example, via the Tone Generator’s phase input). The pulse waveform can also be spread (PWS knob) to give each harmonic a unique pulse width.
A silver detune knob makes each successive harmonic drift further from the core pitch to create super-saw-like results. Press the R button to randomize the harmonic distributions (reallocating staggered tuning & pulse-width spread, and reassiging knobs) and explore different tones. There’s an FM input too, as well as modulation jacks for automating master attack & release settings. The poly HB CV input modulates harmonic amplitudes directly.
