A masterful implementation

I've been waiting for a CS-80 from Cherry Audio for some years now. But in typical CA fashion, they surprised and surpassed expectations. This combination of the GX1 nd CS-80 is such a simple idea, but adds to both without losing the heart and soul and sound of both. The flexibility of the GX-80 is mind-boggling, and I've only just started to scratch the surface of not two, but effectively four layers of audio. LIke the Elka-X, this is a beast that can provide rich complex sounds, though the interface remains familiar(ish).
I would say that it is not a synth for beginning sound designers. It is very sophisticated has a very specific workflow. It is easier than the VM900, but still... it's a lot of historic power. And with great power comes great "confusability."
Of course, you can leverage the huge supply of presets, most of which I can actually see myself using in tracks (as opposed to presets to show 'what's possible with the synth'.)
All in all, the CX-80 is freaking awesome. The sound, as with most of the CA products, captures the character of the physical synths. The features are beautiful and interface elegant.
Support for 14bit MIDI would be nice... maybe in the future?

Incredible

The product is incredible!
It works like a charm in Reason (Windows user) and the stand alone version is also rock steady.
Cherry Audio's support is one of the finest I have ever seen.
The price is incredible. And that is what Cherry Audio is all about. Great price, incredible quality
They are second to none, after this release in my opinion.

Cool synth

I don't own a CS80 nor a GX-1, so I cannot tell if the GX-80 sounds exactly like the real thing. But I do own a lot of records and this synth reminds me of a lot of songs that were made with the originals. A great addition to my VST synth collection, well done Cherry Audio!

A serious contender vs Arturia's plugin

Short on cash but want that special CS sound? GX80 definitely fits the bill. Not only does it sound good, but you get extra features like a Dual mode for creating complex layered textures, plus a suite of effects that includes Cherry's popular "galactic" reverb algorithm. They've even added a GX1 filter mode and the special GX1 bandpassed waves. For the price Cherry charges, the GX80 is a steal.

Great emulation

The sound quality of this synthesizer is amazing. I was amazed from the first listen. The synthesis power of the CS80 in an affordable software!.
