The DMT Apollo module combines a dual random binary sequencer inspired by the Turing Machine, and a Boolean logic module, to give you the ultimate generative rhythm machine – maximum results from minimal parts!

For every clock/trigger input, HIGH/LOW values get shifted along the two independent 16-step shift registers, and loop back to the beginning once at the end, giving you repetitive 16-step rhythms. The probability function can override the loop back to step 1 by adding an random hi/lo value, changing the sequence every time. You can then use these two sequences to send gates to other modules, or combine the two using the additional boolean logic outputs to create up to 8 unique rhythms just from this one module!

Instructions

Inputs

STEPS – Determines the ‘length’ of the sequence to be ‘looped’. Note this only works if the Rand. Probability is less than 100%.

CLOCK IN – When the Clock input receives a Gate or Trigger (>= 2.5v) the module will trigger a step movement along the sequencer.

RAND. PROBABILITY – 2 independent controls for each sequencer line. When set fully to the left (i.e. 7 o’ clock), the sequence will loop infinitely with no changes. When set fully to the right (i.e. 5 o’ clock), the sequence will be completely random with no looping or repetition. Moving between these values gives you some slippage and some steps will be replaced by a new randomly-determined value (either HIGH or LOW). This can be controlled either via the knob, or via CV input.

Outputs

A, B – The unaffected output of each sequencer. Outputs 5v if HIGH, 0v if LOW.

AND – Outputs a Gate only if both A and B are HIGH.

OR – Outputs a Gate if either A or B is HIGH, or if both A and B are HIGH.

XOR (Exclusive OR) – Outputs a Gate if only one of A or B is HIGH.

NAND – Inverse of AND, outputs a Gate only if A and B are not both HIGH.

NOR – Inverse of OR, outputs a Gate only if both A and B are LOW.

XNOR – Inverse of XOR, outputs a Gate if both A or B are either HIGH, or both are LOW.
