Poly Channel Summing Mixer

$2.99 $7.00

This Poly Channel Summing Mixer was created as a convenient & flexible way to introduce modulation based on the number of active voices in a polyphonic signal. For instance, you can connect it between a poly envelope generator and a mono filter cutoff so that the sound opens up as you play more notes (see example illustration).

Yet, this device's architecture can also provide a lot more than that. It finds its roots on the “ADHSR Sum” of the Gammaphone poly synth, but is presented in this module with greater flexibility for general purpose applications.

Input a polyphonic signal at the bottom, toggle individual channels on/off via the orange buttons above, set boundary limits to the overall sum (up to +/-20 V limits, just to make sure the sum isn't too wild) via the silver dials at center, and finally offset & attenuate (or attenuvert) the overall signal via the upper silver dials. At the top, a mono output jack provides the net voltage of all of this summing and conditioning.

Using multiple units, you can create modulations that depend on which voices are active, using the orange channel toggles. If you’re using the Parallel Poly Bundle, then you can also use these toggles to individually set particular voice modulations and sum just those.

Use the Poly Channel Summing Mixer to modulate wet/dry controls, filter cutoffs, LFO rates, envelope settings, effects, and so on... And yes, it can simply add audio channels (use the orange toggles for submixes) too!
