Poly Voltage
Overview
Poly Voltage delivers sixteen independent precision voltages to its polyphonic output. The levels, which are set by the sixteen numbered knobs, can range between plus and minus 10 Volts, and these levels (and ranges) can be doubled, quadrupled, or multiplied ten-fold via the slider switch. Each channel adjust knob is a stacked pair, coarse adjustment on the bottom, fine on the top.
Note that when changing one of the voltages by typing its value rather than using the mouse, you simply type the full voltage you want; although the multiplier switch has to be set high enough that the new value falls within its range, no other accomodation for the switch need be made. If you want sixty volts, make sure the switch is set to 10 X, then just type in "60".
Poly Voltage accepts polyphonic CVs, which are scaled between plus and minus 200% before modulating the voltages set via the sixteen level controls on a channel by channel basis.
The help you're currently reading is always available within the module by clicking on the Cyberwerks name at the bottom of the module; it can also be reached by pressing Ctrl-H and Ctrl-Alt-H (Windows) or Cmd-F1 and Cmd-Opt-F1 (Macintosh) when the module is selected.
Clicking on the channel number labels brings up a menu that allows you to set special values to high precision, or to copy or multiply values across a range. For a number of these functions it makes a difference which numbered label you click on, as that will select the start or end of the range, depending on the command; the other end will be either Ch 1 or the last active channel, depending. The menu items will change to reflect the label clicked. There are also functions to reset both knobs for a channel to zero and to normalize all knobs so that the entire value is set on the coarse knob, with the fine knob set to zero.
Channel Menus
- Reset Both Knobs Sets both Coarse and Fine knobs to zero for the selected channel.
- Normalize All Knobs Sets all channel knobs so that the entire channel value is set by Coarse, with Fine set to zero.
Set Constant... The following items assign the selected constant to the clicked channel. All constants are accurate to the limits of an IEEE double.
- Pi 3.14159..., the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter
- 2 Pi
- e (Euler's Number) 2.71828..., the base of the natural logarithms
- Phi (Golden Ratio) 1.61893...
- A440 (Concert A) 2.75 (assuming 0 = C2)
Modify Range... The range in question is either from 1 to the clicked channel (n), or from the clicked channel to the highest active polyphonic channel (k), depending on the item.
- Multiples of Ch1 from Ch1 to Chn Assigns the sequence (Ch1, Ch1 X 2, Ch1 X 3...) to the range 1-n
- Multiples of Chn to Chk Assigns (Chn, Chn X 2...) to the range n-k
- Fractions of Ch1 from Ch1 to Chn Assigns (Ch1, Chn / 2, Chn / 3...) to the range 1-n
- Fractions of Chn to Chk Assigns (Chn, Chn / 2...) to the range n-k
- Copy Ch1 Down to Chn Copies Ch1 to the range 1-n
- Copy Chn Down to Chk Copies Chn to the range n-k
- Copy Chn to All Copies Chn to all active channels
